This is a new post, which has been developed with the active support
of both the acute Trust and Trinity Hospice. You will join
an innovative, well-resourced and highly motivated team of professionals
all committed to providing excellent care to patients approaching
the end of their lives. There are opportunities to develop
and lead on undergraduate medical education if the candidate
wishes to.
Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre offers a unique opportunity to work
across a broad spectrum of areas, covering as it does pockets of
severe social deprivation to areas of significant affluence. The
ageing population throws up particular challenges that the post
holder will be heavily involved in trying to address along with
other key stakeholders.
Both the local primary care trusts and the acute trust are committed
to improving end of life care across the area and have been willing
partners in the development of this post.
Trinity Hospice is undergoing a significant managerial restructuring
and is actively considering its response to the recently published
National End of Life Care Strategy (July 2008). The new post
holder will be able to play an important part in influencing that
response as well as the response of the local acute Trust.
